Cost To File Bankruptcy
In The Tulsa Oklahoma Area
Now comes the million-dollar question: how much does it cost to file bankruptcy? The question has multiple answers depending on the situation and case specific facts. The following are typical ball-park fees which will be tailored to your specific situation when you meet with the attorney for your free consultation.
If you end up needing a Chapter 7, the Court’s filing fee alone is $335.00. The attorney’s fees charged by JONES LAW are typically $1,165.00 for a straightforward, consumer bankruptcy. All in all, the total cost is $1,500.00 ($335 + $1,165). Payment arrangements are available but are determined on a case-by-case basis which will be discussed at your free consultation.
Complicating factors such as an above-median income, complicated properties, and or a bankruptcy involving business debts are a little more complex and thus have a different fee schedule. The fees are determined on a case-by-case basis; the Court filing fee, however, is still $335.00.
Whether you are in a straightforward Chapter 7, or a more complicated Chapter 7, filing with your spouse does not cost you any extra fees.
If you end up needing a Chapter 13, the filing fee is $310.00. The attorney’s fees charged by JONES LAW are $500.00 up front and the remainder of the fees are paid through your Chapter 13 Bankruptcy plan. The remainder of the fees varies depending on the income level and complexity of the case. During a Chapter 13, JONES LAW will represent you for three to five years depending on the duration of your Chapter 13 Bankruptcy.
Just like a Chapter 7 if you file a Chapter 13 with your spouse, JONES LAW will not charge you any extra fees.
We do not charge additional fees for spouses to file a joint Bankruptcy as a courtesy. Although there is generally more paperwork involved usually in the form of more creditors to list, it is a minor addition and JONES LAW does not believe it is right to charge extra for a joint filing.
Call JONES LAW today for your free consultation to find out if you qualify for a Bankruptcy and to discuss alternative payment arrangements based on your unique situation.
